It depends...even if a girl is shy, I still think she needs to try and make conversation, or otherwise I'd feel that she's not that into me, and that she doesn't really want to be on the date. Thanks! I really appreciate that. Yeah, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I'm just going to learn from this experience and move on. I gave him the wrong impression of me and now it's kind of too late to take it back which sucks because he seemed like a great guy.
